Library Media Specialist:  Mrs. Robaska

‚ÄčJulie Robaska

Mrs. Robaska has had many different teaching/working experiences before becoming the Library Media Specialist at Lakeview!  She taught 4th, 6th, and 7th grade in the St. Joseph and Smithville School Districts, she was a Parent Educator for the Park Hill Parents as Teachers Program, and she was the former Media Assistant at Lakeview.  She loves being in the middle school working with the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, and she really enjoys reading Young Adult Literature!  There are so many great books she wants to read but not nearly enough time to do it! (You guys need to help her out and give her book recommendations too!)  Over the summer she read all of the Truman Nominee books, and she has served as an adult reader for the Truman committee! Some of her favorite books from when she was in middle school include The Cay, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.  A couple of her favorite bestsellers include The Fault in our Stars, The DaVinci Code, The Help, and Divergent, but her all-time favorite young adult book is The Book Thief.  As far as hobbies go, Mrs. Robaska loves to read (of course), knit, cook, travel, and attend her kids’ activities. Allison, her daughter, is a senior at Mizzou, and Andrew, her son, is a freshman at the University of Arkansas.  Even though her husband, Dave, doesn’t like to read fiction, he is an avid listener of audio books. This summer we listened to Harry Potter, and it is amazing. You should try it out!!  As far as pets go, Mrs. Robaska has a very handsome cat named Boots who is 23 lbs! She loves to talk with students, especially about books they’ve read!  Ask her for advice on something good to read or how she chooses books for Lakeview!

Mrs. Dittmer, the Lakeview Media Assistant, was formally a Parents as Teachers Educator for the Park Hill School district for 16 years. She is excited to get to see many of the middle school students that she used to visit as small children. She may have even been a part of introducing many of our students to reading in their early years. Mrs. Dittmer loves to read, and give book reviews. She has many favorites from her middle school years including Pinballs, The Outsiders, Little Women, Diary of a Young Girl, and anything from Mark Twain. Some of her favorite books since her middle school years include The Hunger Game series, Twilight series,The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series and Wenny Has Wings. Some of her favorite hobbies, besides reading, include traveling, running, cooking, and anything to do with her dogs. Mrs. Dittmer was lucky enough to visit Louisa May Alcott’s home one summer in Concord Massachusetts, which was a wonderful trip. She has also participated in many running races, and four Triathlons. She has been married to her husband Jeff (who she met in the 7th grade) for 21 years, and they have two kids. Her son Conner is a college student at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg majoring in business. Her daughter Ashton is a senior at Missouri State in Springfield.  Since both of Mrs. Dittmer’s kids are off at college, she spends a lot more snuggle time with her two dogs. Ryder is a 13 year old Australian Shepherd with a lot of energy, and Emmy is a little terrier mix rescue dog who just loves to go to the dog park.
